Do you struggle with your weight and how you feel? If so, do you feel like you’re fighting an uphill battle?

Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s Weight Loss Center addresses the problem that an estimated 70 million Americans face — obesity. The center includes:

  • Assessment of lifestyle behaviors
  • Diet and nutrition supervision
  • Education
  • Exercise
  • Screening
  • Treatment

Our supportive environment is a place where you can commit to healthy, proactive lifestyle changes. You will be treated in a comfortable atmosphere staffed by specialists who will help you reach your optimum health.

The program has two components, regardless of which program is selected, each patient receives an initial medical review and health assessment by the Weight Loss Center team. Our job is to help you take steps in the right direction.

Medical Weight Loss

The medical weight loss program is a physician-supervised program that helps you lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Our passionate healthcare experts assist patients with dieting, weight management and exercise routines. Benefits include:

  • Decreasing the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes
  • Improving breathing problems such as asthma and sleep apnea
  • Addressing health risks such as high cholesterol
  • Improving mental health

Our physicians, nurses and staff work together to design a tailored regimen to fit your needs. For example, a nurse practitioner assesses your health during a medical review, and a registered dietitian conducts a dietary screening and evaluates lifestyle behaviors and previous weight loss attempts. Throughout the process, you attend weekly follow-up visits and have access to a free weekly exercise program taught by personal trainers.

Surgical Weight Loss

For some people, diet and exercise aren’t enough. Cheyenne Regional offers surgical hope to those who have constantly tried to lose and keep off excess weight. We offer two surgical options for people ready to make a lifelong decision to become healthy:

  • Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass is a laparoscopic procedure that reduces the size of the stomach, therefore requiring the person to consume less food to feel full.
  • LAP-Band System is a less-invasive option that is adjustable and reversible. This surgery requires no stomach stapling or intestinal re-routing.

Calculating the Body Mass Index (BMI)

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from a person’s weight and height. BMI is a reliable indicator of body fat.
