Kohl’s Donates Care Packages for Children Treated at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center

Cheyenne, WY—Kohl’s Department Stores Kohl’s Cares® program recently gave Cheyenne Regional Medical Center 250 care packages filled with kid-friendly crafts and plush stuffed animals to distribute to children being treated at the hospital.

“The Injury Prevention Department of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center is honored to partner with the Kohl’s Cares® Hospital and Hometown teams to provide these wonderful care packages to children and families in our community,” said CRMC injury prevention coordinator Stephanie Heitsch.

In January, 2,800 Kohl’s executives came together to build the care packages for their 160 hospital partners, including CRMC. Within an hour, the executives had filled 50,000 canvas tote bags.

Each bag includes a plush stuffed animal, children’s book, coloring pad, stencils, crayons, playing cards, water bottle, fabric markers and colorful duct tape for decorating the water bottle.

In a letter announcing the care package donation, a Kohl’s official said that the packages were created to “bring a smile to the faces of kids” and to “help brighten the day” of children who were being treated by their hospital partners.

Kohl’s Cares® has partnered with Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s Injury Prevention program for the past eight years, providing more than $103,200 in grant funds.

“This partnership has helped us educate families in Laramie County on the importance of car seat safety for children and has also helped us distribute car seats to families in need,” Heitsch said. “We want to thank Kohl’s for their ongoing support of our injury prevention program and for the many ways they have made life better and safer for children and families in Laramie County.”

At Cheyenne Regional, the tote bags will be given to children being cared for in the pediatric unit and emergency department.
