Cheyenne Regional Announces Strategic Employment Partnership with U.S. Army
September 21, 2015
Cheyenne, WY—Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and representatives of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command will sign an agreement in a public ceremony on September 22 that will give priority interview consideration to soldiers participating in the Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) program.
The signing ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. in the hospital’s main lobby, 214 E. 23rd St. A reception will follow the ceremony.
PaYS was developed to provide America’s youth with the opportunity to simultaneously serve their country and prepare for a future career outside of the Army.
Soldiers sign up for PaYS as part of the enlistment process, identifying organizations with jobs that align with their skills and interests. The companies guarantee an interview and possible employment to PaYS soldiers once they complete their military service.
“Cheyenne Regional Medical Center currently employs several members of the Reserve and National Guard in addition to many men and women who have retired from active service,” said Margo Karsten, chief executive officer at CRMC. “This strategic partnership is an extension of our commitment to support our military service members by providing them with quality employment opportunities.”
Major Trevor Hall will sign the agreement on behalf of the Army Recruiting Command.
“The U.S. Army is pleased to add Cheyenne Regional Medical Center to its team of corporate and government organizations in the Partnership for Youth Success program,” Major Hall said. “This partnership offers talented young people the chance to serve their country and to have solid employment opportunities after that service.”
As part of the agreement, enlistees interested in gaining specific job skills will receive that training while in the Army. Recruits will sign a statement of intent to work for Cheyenne Regional Medical Center upon completion of their term of service or completion of their military training.
“PaYS partners benefit through access to potential employees who bring the skills, professional work habits and pride and personal integrity that an Army background provides,” said Sergeant First Class David Barnett of the Aurora Medical Recruiting Center.
As they near the end of their enlistments, the soldiers will be able to interview with CRMC. Hospital jobs will be added to the Army’s PaYS database in the near future.
“This partnership is such a great fit,” Karsten said. “Young men and women in our military understand the importance of service and commitment and are highly trained and motivated. These are all characteristics that are valued in an employee, especially in a service field like healthcare.”
Through PaYS, the Army has partnered with more than 500 corporations and public sector agencies across the nation, including Union Pacific Railroad, Facebook, Inc., Caterpillar, Lockheed Martin, AT&T, General Motors, Wells Fargo and Amazon.com.
About the Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) Program
The PaYS program began in 2000 as an enlistment incentive for Regular Army enlisted soldiers. In October 2002, the program expanded to include Army Reserve soldiers. The program later expanded to include Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Reserve Component Cadets and ROTC Cadets who incur an active duty commitment. In April 2011, the U.S. Army Marketing and Research Group assumed responsibility for administering and managing the program.
