Cheyenne, WY—The Cheyenne Regional Health System has been awarded an Epic Gold Stars Level 7 for the use and functionality of its electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Level 7 means that Cheyenne Regional has successfully adopted more than 70 percent of Epic’s Gold Stars features and places our hospital and health system in the top 19 percent of Epic EMR customers worldwide.
“A high-functioning electronic medical record is a critical strategy for providing high quality care to our patients while also improving employee and provider workflow,” said Jeffrey Chapman, M.D., Cheyenne Regional’s chief medical officer. “The EMR features we deliver create efficiencies, reduce costs, provide best practice tools and help us improve the patient experience.”
The Gold Stars program measures healthcare organizations in several key areas, including patient access and experience, clinical quality and safety, population health management, physician productivity, nursing productivity, interoperability, mobile device use, patient flow and value from data. The program also provides a roadmap for improving clinical and financial outcomes.
“Achieving Level 7 shows that our hospital and health system are using Epic at a high level and in some areas are among the top healthcare organizations that use Epic,” said Jody Siltzer, Cheyenne Regional’s executive director of information technology.
Cheyenne Regional scored highest in clinical quality and safety, interoperability, emergency care, physician productivity, mobile device solutions and for the features and functionality of its MyChart patient portal.
“The Level 7 designation shows our health system’s dedication to providing our patients, physicians, nurses and other members of our clinical care team access to the most advanced electronic medical record features,” said Tim Thornell, Cheyenne Regional’s president and chief executive officer. “I’d like to thank our Epic team for their ongoing work and focus on deploying and helping us integrate this vital technology.”
Cheyenne Regional is the only organization in Wyoming using Epic, which is considered a world-class EMR. More than 250 million patients have a current electronic record in Epic.
