Cheyenne Regional Medical Center to Host First Annual “Navigating Diabetes” Symposium
October 1, 2024 — Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is excited to announce its first annual “Navigating Diabetes” symposium, taking place on Nov. 9, 2024, at Laramie Community College. This comprehensive event is designed to provide valuable education, resources and support for adults and children with diabetes. The symposium will feature two tracks: one for adults and one for youth patients up to age 19. The adult track will run from 9 a.m. to noon, covering various topics such as managing blood sugar levels, the latest treatment options, nutritional education and strategies for living well with diabetes. The pediatric track will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., offering engaging activities, educational sessions on staying active with diabetes, sick day prevention and opportunities for young patients to connect with their peers.
Highlights of the Navigating Diabetes Symposium include:
-Keynote presentations by renowned diabetes expert Dr. Maradana, endocrinologist, as well as Dr. Romano, child and adolescent psychiatrist.
-Interactive workshops and panel discussions led by healthcare professionals.
-Appearances by the “Balloon Lady.”
-Free A1C testing for the first 25 participants in the morning and afternoon sessions.
-Raffle prizes, including scholarships to the renowned Camp Hope for children with diabetes.
“We are thrilled to host this important event for our community,” said Kim Hoyt, Cheyenne Regional inpatient diabetes educator. “Our goal is to provide a comprehensive and inclusive platform for individuals and families affected by diabetes to learn, connect and find the support they need to thrive.”
