Biography
Dr. Bret Winter, a Cheyenne native, has dedicated his career to advancing orthopedic care. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Kansas in Lawrence before continuing at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, where he received his Doctorate of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed his orthopedic residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and further specialized with an AO Fellowship in Sports Medicine and Trauma in Mammoth Lakes, California.
Before joining CRMG’s Orthopedics & Surgical Specialists (Formerly Wyoming Orthopedics and Sports Medicine) as an orthopedic surgeon in 2012, Dr. Winter spent four years practicing at Associates in Orthopaedic Surgery in West Valley City, Utah. He is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery and a certified Makoplasty procedure provider. Under his leadership, he and his team at WOSM became the first in Wyoming—and within a 100-mile radius—to offer the innovative Makoplasty procedure for hip and knee replacement surgeries, enhancing precision and patient outcomes.
Outside of work, Dr. Winter enjoys bicycling, cooking, skiing, traveling, and most importantly, spending time with his wife and son.
