Yarlagadda, Vivek, MD
A hospitalist is a physician who provides comprehensive medical care to patients in a hospital. Hospitalists are experts in conditions that bring many people to the hospital, as they see and treat patients who have these conditions over and over. While other physicians may visit with a hospitalized patient, the hospitalist is normally responsible for coordinating the patient’s care while the patient is hospitalized. Hospitalists typically have training in general internal medicine, general pediatrics or family medicine and are certified in hospital medicine. Some hospitalists may also specialize in neurology and oncology as well as obstetrics and gynecology.
