About the Forensic Nursing Department team
Our forensic nursing department consists of specially trained registered nurses. Each has completed extensive training in violence-related assessments, documentation, forensic photography, trauma-informed care, and evidence collection on all suspected victims of crime, whether they arrive at our emergency department on their own or are referred by law enforcement or an advocacy agency.
Additionally, the CRMC forensic nursing department team can provide resources for victims’ medical/legal needs and support those who have experienced life-changing events.
What to do if you are the victim of a crime
If you are the victim of a crime, your safety is most important.
- Call 911 if you are in immediate danger
- Go to a safe place as soon as you can, and ask someone you trust to stay with you
- Seek medical care as quickly as possible
When you arrive at the hospital, a member of the CRMC forensic nursing team can help you notify law enforcement if you wish to report the incident.
